“Future School of Ukraine” Winners Unveil Visionary Project Proposal at Vilnius Event
On October 28th, Italy’s architectural bureau “Scandurra Studio Architettura” presented the winning proposal for the “Future School for Ukraine” at the National Gallery of Art in Vilnius. The project, developed in collaboration with Ukrainian architect Michailo Vustianskyi, showcases an innovative approach to reimagining Ukraine’s educational infrastructure.
This inspiring event brought together attendees eager to see firsthand how the award-winning proposal envisions transforming Ukraine’s educational landscape.
During the first half of the event, representatives behind the “Future School for Ukraine” initiative — Artūras Žarnovskis, advisor to the Central Project Management Agency, head of the programme “Co-Create Future of Ukraine”, Rūta Leitanaitė, curator of the initiative (Lithuanian Union of Architects) and Rokas Kilčiauskas, coordinator of the architectural competition (Lithuanian Union of Architects) — shared their insights and lessons learned while coordinating the initiative and the international architectural competition.
Afterwards, attendees were introduced to a pioneering, adaptable design that promises resilient, safe learning environments tailored to local needs. Architects Alessandro Scandurra, the founder and creative director of “Scandurra Studio Architettura”, and Poe Matteo George led the presentation, shedding light on the project’s focus on modular, flexible facilities that can be readily adapted across Ukraine.
The event, organised by Lithuanian Union of Architects and event partner — National Gallery of Art, underscored the role of international expertise in shaping the future of Ukrainian education, marking an important milestone in the country’s rebuilding efforts.
The “Future School for Ukraine” project is funded by Lithuania’s Fund for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid.
